My front left turn signal burned out and before I could replace it, the front left signal and left brake light went out. When this happened the dash light for the left turn signal would stay light when my headlights were on or it would not light at all when the headlights are off.
I replaced the burnt out front/left signal bulb and all the problems are stayed the same. The few pieces of advice I have heard have been that it's probably electrical and most likely in the switch.
So I was going to start with the switch (60.00) but I can not figure out how to get in to the steering column housing. Does the steering wheel have to come off, and if so to I have to worry about setting off the air bag.
Basically an info about the problem or about how to get in to the column housing would be VERY much appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe
BTW....when the headlights are off and the signal switch is turned left is goes ERRRRRR....when the headlights are on and the signal switch is turn left there's no sound.
p.s. I never thought I would have to tell the cop "my signal isn't burnt out, I just can't make it work!"
There is three 7mm bolts on the bottom of the column. Remove those. and the housing around the wheel will come off. Its two pieces. As for the headlight switch has two 7mm bolts... one on top, and one behind the wheel. It's hard to get to that one, but with a wrench and some patience you'll get it!
The wheel doesn't have to come off, and the air bag won't deploy, but I do suggest pulling the fuse for the horn... I kept bumping it when I replaced my wiper switch!
If you haven't bought the switch already i recommend getting it from a breakers yard if you can, i think i payed $4 for one i have to solve the problem i had. Saves paying 60 for it.
