Blinking DRL/ Highbeam indicator

To the average person, this would mean you have a bulb out. BUT, I don't.

I usually drive around with my E-Brake 1 click up to disengage the DRL's (I hate them.) However, lately, the DRL indicator has been blinking. At one point I tried driving around with the E-Brake handle down, and the lights worked at one point, but later, after stopping and re-starting the car, they didn't.

There's another instance when I'm driving with the E-Brake up a click, and the highbeam indicator is flashing or solid, then it will shut off and the DRL indicator will start flashing. Then they'll go back and forth.

At night, when the low beams are on, the Highbeam indicator will stay lit. Even after swapping between high and low beam, the indicator will remain lit.

This is extremely confusing and frustrating. I don't like the extra indicator lights on my dash. Especially if it's giving a false reading.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this issue? Remember, there are no lights burnt out.

Thank you.

Sounds like a similar problem I had in a 97. Final result was a bad light module - which unfortunately is part of the instrument panel circuit board. After much troubleshooting and wiring checks, my final fix was to buy a dash from a wrecker. To keep the original odometer, I swapper the circuit board into my dash and all was normal again.

The flashing DRL light indicates a malfunction in the DRL circuit. Could also be the stalk light switch as many other people here have reported when this type of problem occurs.

I came to the same conclusion. High & low beams worked OK, but the darn DRL kept flashing in the cluster (DRLs didn't work). I took the cheap route and placed a piece of black electrical tape over the DRL indicator light (behind the silk screen panel). I'm happy now without the blinking starting any migraines.

Thanks guys, I'll keep it in mind. I took it out today and there were no problems. I figure the car must have be VERY cold. As it is, the cold weather causes my speedometer to stay at zero. Once it warms up, it works fine. It's just tempermental, I guess.
