I'm trying to remove my a gas tank from an 03 Cavalier. I have undone all fuel lines including gas tank filler tube, evap, and straps. The tank is still firmly stuck in place like it is bolted in from the top. I've done several fuel pump replacements and never had this much trouble. If anyone knows what might be hindering me I'd REALLY appreciate your help!
Thanks,
Josh
I searched through the past posts about removing the gas tank and read what you have to do and it seems like a regular gas tank drop. With the exception of the fact that I've done everything and my tank is still firmly in place. I'm a pretty big dude and I tried pulling straight down on the tank and it bows down about an inch and when you let go it just goes back up. It feels like there are bolts at the top of the tank below the back seat holding to the bottom of the car. Is there a way to remove the back seat to check for this or can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong?
it has double sided sticky tape. yes i know your pain sucks balls. i drove to like 3 places to get info and when i came back it was on the ground yeah its just tape. pull really hard it will come off.
LOL, yeah I don't know what the heck! After I came in here and scoured the site with 'search' I went back out there scratching my head and blowing steam. Lowered the jack and the tank slid right out! That's just down right dirty! Course now my dad and I can't get it back in. He has torn up rotater cuffs so we are gonna try again in the morning. Might pull the pump back out and drain the gas out.
