I have an 05 cavalier with the 2.2 eco. a couple of weeks ago it started knocking so i stopped driving it because i didnt want to mess anything up. Its coming from the cam side of the car. It only does it when the engine is hot. ive reved it a couple times since then trying to figure out what it is and ive gotten it up to 5000. the noise gets a little bit louder but nothing really happens. i would think that if it was something metal(rod, lifter, timing chain) it would have broken by now. i have no clue what it is. any help?

I also have the same thing going on...But I also notice when I start the car after it has be ran..It has a rattle type of sound..But it does not always do it????I have 160 thousand KM on it..And was wondering if timing chain might be the problem...Sorry for jacking the thread..

So no other person here knows anything about this???I guess myself and this guy must have the only 2 Ecotecs that make a noise...
