2.2L Sputters after rainy night?
Sunday, October 21, 2007 9:53 AM
I recently changed my plugs and plug wires, every morning after it rains, or just a damp morning,
My car sputters when i give it some throttle.

Changing gears (5-speed) is horrible. When it drops to a low rpm from shifting
it sputters and bogs as if its misfiring. Or if i give it too much gas it does the same thing.

I've checked the plug wires and plugs already.
Before i bring it to the shop and they try a bunch of diff things and charge me crazy $$$s.
Has anybody had this prob?

Plz halp...

yeah, i've got the same problem. i've got an automatic, but it sputters more specifically on the upper rpm ranges. My car has died on me once the same day that it died it wouldn't idle right at all either. All of the mechanics i've talk to have told me it's probably the fuel pump. If not, it could be an ignigtion problem. So, i'd recommend testing the fuel system first. Just changing you plugs and wires are not going to give you problems like that. Anyway, i'm not an expert, but i'm testing and changing my fuel pump this week.

Did the problem only start to happen after your tuneup?

I would look into a failing coil pack possibly.

make sure plugs and wires are oem. i'm more leaning towards the wires than the plugs. i think this topic was covered here before, someone was complaining about the same thing.

Yes car was fine before the tune-up
But only after installing Bosch Plug wires and AC Delco Platinum Plugs (Both OEM Spec)
Did my car run funny.

When the car warms up shes perfect.
