replacing a thermostat in a 2003 chevy cavalier

was driving home last night and got a CEL on the car so i checked it this morning and its throwing a p0128 code which i looked up and looks like a bad thermostat. so i got one but i need to know the location of where it is in the eco motor..from everything that i searched it shows it in the rear of the motor aka http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=30&i=26903&t=26756#26903 but is this true and if so does anyone have any pics to show location.......would be greatly appreciated

yeah its on the rear of the motor on the passenger side. I saw it on a junk motor. If you look under the exhaust manifold, you'll see a tube ging from side to side, the end on the passenger side unbolts and theres your thermostat.

Easiest way to do it is take out the exhaust manifold.

Is the car overheating? cause the thermostat may not be the problem, according to the info i have at work, the code could also be a bad engine coolant temp sensor. just checking

Never know of a code for a thermostat. Probably the temp sending unit.

just a update i put a lil tranny fluid in the coolant hoping it would help to with the stick open thermostat and it worked like a champ....
