I got off the clutch too fast at a green light, and I got mega evil wheel hop. It was like POW POW POW POW POW and I was like CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP and I lifted off by the second or third CRAP. Finding that my drive axles are still in good shape, I hope, I continued driving, but something was different. I looked at my dash, and behold! The light that never lights, the one that forever casts darkness on the 90-110 MPH and the 0-2000 RPMs is now LIT!! FINALLY!! I have a fully lit dashboard! I don't have to rip apart the dash for one silly light bulb! At least not for a while anyway! But yeah!

So basically sounds like to me you have a short somewheres in the dash.. I hope it doesn't screw up again on you lol.

Watching you parade around my bedroom in a thong was a little like watching sea lions mate.
I guess the light could always be just a little loose too.
It sounds like you either need less sticky tires, or need motor mounts and braces.
How about suspension that's not Charmin soft?

And I have been thinking of adding strut braces. The car's chassis flex is ridiculous!

A somewhat solid set of mounts, and a lower strut brace will help out with the wheel hop a bit, and once you get around to installing an aftermarket suspension, it should be pretty much gone... I need to do the same thing.
I have both front and rear strut bars on my car... there more for looks than anything else... I really can't tell much of a difference. Maybee when I do all that other stuff, they'll help out a little.

my car shakes a bit tho.. with the 4spd auto.. but i still think they are wicked mounts

Aye. When I pay off my credit card, I may try the moto mounts...
...my tires are KUMHO POWER STAR 758 btw...

I wonder if those are stickier than my Bridgestone Potenza RE950's ?
Whell hop is basically caused from the engine flexing in it's motor mounts from the tourque of the wheels, and when the tires finally break loose, the engine snaps back to where it wants to be in the mounts slowing the tires just enought to start the proccess over and over and over again, causing the tires to hop from all the back and forth movement of the driveline. Thats why more solid motor mounts help soo much.
They're about $35 a tire, and they get good reviews for being grippy in dry tarmac. They aren't as good as the Sumitomo HTR 200 in wet tarmac, though.

$35 a tire... man you get good deals. My tires retail for between $180 and $200 a piece (I didn't pay that much for them though

)
If it goes out again, just smack the dashpad above the cluster. Most 2k+'s have this problem.
I do that now.
