The ignition key has to be rattled around to turn the ignition on. (manual trans) Went to dealership $400!!! Aftermarket same price. It has pass code system. Anyone have any cheaper suggestions???
If you replace the ignition switch you will need to re-train the theftloc system. the ignition switch is one of the coded items that must match the BCM and the dash module.

yup. when my ignition switch went, i was reading about it on here and found out most of the people did the push button start since it was much cheaper
my switch just went... I was going to get it from the yard but after reading mikes post I have no clue. All I know is the it doesnt work anymore... I used to be able to wiggle it but not anymore. What are my option... I really dont want a push buttom I like the factory way. Thanks.
ok I did a quick seach and found out how to relean the damn thing! Now I can get any switch from the yard or only from a 96-99 2.4 manual like I have?

Look at your key and see how worn out it is. I have seen many ignitions get easier to turn if you get a fresh cut key. Go to the dealer and have them cut one off your vin #. They will need proof of ownership.
i need help with this my ignition is seized in the off position.. can i like do push button start with out the key being turned at all because it wont turn at all
