Z24 major fuel problem
Friday, August 31, 2007 1:50 PM
I have a 99 Z24 with 150k on the 2.4L motor. The problem I have is with the amount of fuel being consumed for no reason. It does not seem right for a little car to eat that much gas and I try to keep my rpm in the middle, not to low, not to high. I can literally see the needle going down and whenever I put 10 dollars in, it barely gives me a qaurter. A 20KM trip will result in the needle going down half way. What can be the problem? And please tell me how you get for 10-20 dollars of gas with the price in 90-99 cents a litir thanks.

It costs me $50 to fill up my tank. The needle goes WAY past the full mark (there's something wrong with it), and it doesn't get down to the full mark until I've gone about 200 kms. I can get 650 km out of a full tank, mixed city and highway driving. That's on a 99 Z24 5 speed with more miles than yours

I'm pretty light on the throttle, and I have an intake. That's it for mods though.

ive got the 00 z24 5 speed with the 2.4 and i get only around that 650 km / tank too.....a 20 km trip will sometimes result in the needle going down 1/4 the way but really those gauges are not very accurate.....so just use your odometer and see how far you can get on a tank. Then maybe try doing some simple things like new spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter. Maybe even try some seafoam....people say it works amazing. Ive got some coming to try on my car....its not hear yet though.

Are you sure the car is using that much gas? Basically, when your refilling the tank, the pump verifies what the needle says?

If the needle isn't messing up, and the gas is actually gone, you might have a seriouse fuel leak somewhere man, there's no way your car can burn half a tank in 20K.
