Ok so Im pulling this 97 z24 motor and putting it in my 96 sunfire, it already came with a 2.4 5speed. my qeustion is will all the clips, plugs, and ecu from my 96 motor go with the 97 motor?? I know to put a 97 ecu in a 96 car you have repin it, but Im wanting to just run everything I have in the engine bay now.

Why not just run the 97 motor off your 96 PCM? They both should be OBD-II and have the same sensors and controls.

I did this exact swap in March. The oil level sensor does not mount up on the 97 oil pan. I have a loose connector that I couldn't find a match for near the fan, but no check engine light. If you want the oil sensor to work you have to swap the oil pans. I didn't realize this till afterwards and now i live with a check oil light on. All the other sensors hooked right up. Hope this helps
