Hey guys i just took my car to the shop that did my exhaust and these codes are being thrown...P0138 and P0141. It said something about circuit high volts and circuit malfunction. And also all the codes were bank 1 sensor 2. The guy at the shop said they were both 02 sensor codes. What should i do about it?
check your o2 sensors

how do you know if they are bad? i had the guy clear them the first time they came up...i had him check for the code number and he cleared it again today but i drove it for around 15 minutes and it didn't come back on
It doesnt mean the O2 is bad, normally they arent.
If your car is running lean or rich all the time, the O2 sensor will see it as rich or lean and tell the computer to try to strighten it out to get it to 14.7 to 1. Anyways the computer sees the O2 as always reading rich or lean, it sees that as a problem, when really it isnt, there is an underlying problem.
My old car had a O2 sensor code, but I found out the injector O rings were leaking air, and on the intake stroke, had extra air, and it set a code for the O2 being to lean when it was the car to lean.
If the O2 arent switching they are bad.
People on this site, say "check your O2s", well they say that but dont know what it means.
You need a scan tool capable of viewing real time data or graphing O2 sensors to see they are working correctly.

Oh my god is about all I'm going to say.
P0138 and P0141 are both for the downstream O2 sensor (which does not read air/fuel) Code P0141 is a problem with the heater circuit. It is my luck that this code will come and go, but you will end up having to change the sensor at some point. It will get worse and worse. As long as the code is gone I would not, but when it starts coming back more often I would.

k thanks! well the code came back on yesterday after driving home from school. So is this really a thing i need to change right away or can i wait a bit. So is this code for the 02 sensor by the manifold? If so, the cheapest one i have found so far is 128 at napa. that is the one that is a direct plug in (i dont want to go through the hassle of splicing everything). Is there another place i can find it for cheaper or am i SOL?
"bank 1 sensor 2" indicates the O2 sensor right behind the cat. bank1 sensor1 is the one in the manifold. Somebody correct me if I am wrong.

You are correct.
GO to GMpartsdirect.com. The rear sensor is over $100, the front one should be well under $100.
