I have about 56,000 on my cavi and was wondering how long before I should have the clutch checked out. It seems fine now but just so I know.
When you step on the clutch, and it grinds when you move the shift lever. 56k miles is barely broken in on the clutch, unless its been heavily abused.
and it grinds? i dont think that would be a clutch lol more of an internal tranny problem such as syncros.
when you put it in gear hit the gas.. and it revs and doesnt catch, or when u throw it into gear and its like neutral u need a clutch, other then that its hard telling how much clutch life u have left. Ive heard u can try to take off in 3rd gear if you are able to without it stalling the clutch is said to be good.
On the other hand clutches can easily go 100k+ miles if your not hard on it and know how to drive correctly you should be fine for awhile
umm jon think before u speaketh ur clutch can go out either way it can get stuck on or off u described the off
the clutch stops the rotation in the transmission when u push the pedal therefore no grind if ur clutch is bad it can either not work or when u push the pedal and try to put it in gear it WILL grind because it is not stopping the rotation like it should
it wont drive
so to its 50/50 if its bad and wont catch or it will and never let go meaning u have to power shift and start the car in gear or replace it
