Spent the better part of an hour looking in my engine bay trying to locate a rattle that is the newest addition to the symphony that is my 99 J-body. With the engine idling on my 2200 I hear a very audible rattle that sounds like its coming from my transmission area, front right of the engine bay if you looking into it, however I searched out the area thoroughly and couldn't locate anything. The sound is akin to have a nut with a washer come loose but there is nothing I can see. I just wanted to see if anybody else ran into this problem, performance hasn't changed at all so I may chalk it up to my car having 151K on it, but I figured I'd check in with everyone else first. Thanks
Uh-oh... sounds like someone needs a new chain and tensioner! Best do it now before you need to replace more than you wish to. And don't let any loose or broken pieces fall or stay in the oil pan, or you will regret it.
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
Transmission just sh@# the bed, thanks for the info though
dose your car have AC? and if it dose it could be your compressor it will make a pinging noise.
