Just curious, do I have to extend any or all of the wires to move the coil pack up on the driver side of my head? How did you all do it? I'm in the middle of a head swap and would like to know before I find another head...
what year, engine size do you have?

it may just be a hunch, but i think it's a 97 ln2. (2.2). just a guess though, it could be a ford flathead for all i know.

I've been lookin' to do the same on my truck, which has an '94 LN2 2.2L OHV I-4. Shorter plug wires mean less resistance. Does
anybody know how? MadJack, OHV notec? Slowolej? PJ?

i'll try and field this one a little better than i did last time. the coil packs on the side of the head actually came from the factory starting in 1998. if you don't have a local junk yard with one in it to get an idea of how it works, you can try looking at the driver side of your head. if you do move it up there, you would at least have to extend the crankshaft position sensor wiring. i cant remember (been at least three months since i was under that end of my car) if the power, ground and cam sensor wires come from the passenger side or not, but if they do, you'll need to lengthen them as well. after that, its a simple matter of(if your head provides provisions for it, again, they started doing this in 98, with a different head on the ln2) unbolting your ignition module and coil packs from their stock location and bolting them to the side of your head.

Thanks Rich, but I can't put mine there because EGR feed tube and truck firewall won't allow it. If I made a mount to place it atop the
head near the same position with the coil-top facing upward, would that work okay? Wires are no problem as I've got a buddy who'll
fab some plug-in extentions. Plus I can custom fit my own plug wires, since I've done it more than once with MSD Superconductors
on more than one app.
