Are doors interchangable??
Tuesday, April 10, 2007 6:24 AM
I have a 1997 Sunfire and the back door lock mech. are shot. My brother got me some doors from the scrap yard he works at but they are (1) 1998 Cavalier & (2) 2002 Cavalier. He says they will fit but my boyfriend says they won't. Who is right?

They will just try to match the door panels as best as you can. Some of the fabric are different colors as you probably already know.

If all that's wrong are the door locks (can't tell if you're talking about the power actuators or part of the linkage), why are you replacing the entire door?

It's the piece that holds the door shut (not sure of the name of the part). The latch will not open/close to hold the door shut. We are replacing the doors because we figured it would be easier than pulling apart the doors and replacing the latch/lock mech.
