ok sometime (like in a drive-thru) i have the car in drive and let off the brake and usually a car "creeps" forward. well mine doesn't...it just sits in place and when i go from one window to the next i am probably high 2's to mid 3's on my tach and only going maybe 5 mph. i have also noticed when i go off a stoplight that my rpm's are quite high and you can hear the engine working more but once again i am only going maybe 5-10 mph. so if any of you have experience this let me know what the problem is and thanks. oh and i have a 98 Z24 2.4L
check your throttle cable, any bends or kinks?Could be a transmission issue?

sounds like the transmission is an issue, happened to me, and GM gave me a new tranny (warranty) it was almost like it was slipping in neutral when accelerating

ok i think i might know what the problem is. i have a transmission fluid leak. its right under the bumper on the passenger side right in front of the front passenger tire. my car came with no owners manual

so i guess where do i put transmission fluid in and how can i stop the leak?
if you look in your engine bay on the lower right you should see a red cap that is where you fill, you don't have a trans dipstick so the only way to check the fluid level is by the fluid level screw which is under the car somewhat by the lower motor mount commonly referred to as the dogbone ,I have to go my gf is wanting sex so I'll carry on tomorrow or buy yourself a Chiltons or Haynes manual

ok i think i know what you're talking about i think i was looking at it earlier and was kind of hard to get to? but that helps a lot and hopefully this works. any specific transmission fluid i should purchase?
Ok I'm back,You have to fill a few quarts at a time, then, with the car jacked up,hoisted preferrably, loosen that screw until fluid drains out and stops, then you will have the correct amount of fluid in the trans, trust me I went through this and took the car to a local mechanic/friend and he hoisted the car up and showed me.I was like 4 quarts low and then I overfilled by like 2 1/2 quarts. If you don't know if the car had Synthetic or not then just use Dexcron trans. fluid and def. buy a Chiltons or Haynes manual for your car,you can get them at most autoparts stores.

will the chilton/haynes point out which screw to loosen? haha sorry for all the questions i am quite the noob when it comes to this kind of stuff but i appreciate it
yes it will and I am still learning as well, almost all of my mods have been from researching here on the org. or from friends helping.Newbie section is a good place to ask some questions here that way some of the guys here won't jump on ya and also try searching in the search box,you might have to word your search term differently, but most questions you might have ,have probably been discussed or answered already. Also read all of the "sticky's" and FAQ's.Good luck

ok...heres my advise, coming from working 7 years at an automatic tanny shop...forget about the fill screw...drop the whole pan.
check the condition of the oil. it should be red-ish.
check the bottom of the pan for sludge and metal shavings. if either are present, take car to a tranny shop, you may be needing a new one soon.
change the filter while your there.
if its not damaged, reuse the factory pan gasket. DO NOT use felt, cork or rubber gaskets. your factory gasket is a rubber coated metal gasket, any others will leak in due time.
refill with fliud...aprox 7 quarts.
if you have a fliud leak near the bumper..its either the cooler or cooler lines, find out which it is and get it fixed.
good luck and hope its nothing major...

no prob. as long as you didnt run it too low and damage something you should be good. just keep it full till you get it to the shop.
