New (reman) starter only lasted 1 week and 3 days!

Ok I bought a starter from a local parts store and installed it a week ago this past saturday. As of yesterday morning I go to start the car and the starter is spinning but not kicking out to engage the flywheel. You have to turn it off and re-crank it a few times untill it will finally kick out and start. This is what the old original starter was doing and is why I changed it. It was embarassing and I didn't want to be left stranded.

So now not even two weeks later the new starter is acting up. You can imagine I'm not happy.

I want to get a starter from a different parts store, and then take this one back and demand my money back. But the problem is I turned in my old starter for a core charge. If I get a refund on the starter price from the first store, I still have to pay a core charge at the second parts store for their starter. So should I demand another core charge refund from the first store or should I tell them they owe me my money back plus $20.00 for the charge at the new store?

I originally paid $58.99 for the starter plus a $25 or $30 core charge. I took the old original starter back the very next monday and got my money back. Now if I take the starter back, they've already sent my old one off to be rebuilt, so I'm without a core, what do I do?

The new starter is $104.99 plus $20.00 core. I'm going to get it from Auto Zone this time and go with the lifetime warranty one. The one currently on the car has a lifetime warranty through Chet Nichols Auto Parts but it's a local chain only and I'm moving down south so I'd rather have a warranty through a national chain store if I ever have a problem again in the future.

So fun for me I get to take the intake manifold off again and change the starter. I did leave off the lower support bracket though so it won't take too long this time. (Old bracket bolts were on the block so tight I had to impact them off and almost broke a swivel).
