clicking from under dash when heat is on
Tuesday, March 06, 2007 4:51 PM
My girlfriend has a 96 cavalier and just the other day it started making a clicking noise when the heat/blower is on. She says its coming from the passengers side glovebox area under the dash. What could i check for? I havent had a chance to look at it yet and just wanted to get an idea of what I could look for.
Thanks

its the heater/ac relay, it looks like a silver little box with four prongs sticking out of it, after you disconnect it. i would turn on the heater, and make it click so you can pinpoint where its coming from. hope that helped

most likely something got caught inside the blower, (wrapper, straw, paper, etc..) It happned to me lots of time for being a bit dirty. Try setting it low, then quickly turn it high, this might remove the materail stuck inside the blower. If not take the cover out and inspect the blower, it could be a faulty blower motor.

thats usually the bearings in the blower, usually a lead to getting a new HVAC blower. nothing big until it just quits tho, but very annoying
