It could, If you have any check engine light on, I would scan those codes first before replacing the secondary O2 sensor.

Good Luck.

i had the car scanned at autozone, the guy said that it read cyclinder misfire, the light stayed off for 4 hrs after he cleared the code out, that was before i changed the o2 sensor (before cat.) i put new copper plugs and boots in today besides the o2 sensor and i had the negative batt. cable disconnected .The check engine light is still on but after driving the car for 3-4 miles and adjusting the idle it seems to run just fine ,by the way the o2 was completely black.do u think the sensor in the cat could make the car run like crap if its bad?

From my experience on my Z, bad plugs gave me the misfire code and horrible idle. A bad o2 sensor gave me bad mileage and bad smell from the exhaust. When I say bad plugs, I replaced my factory Delco plugs at 85k miles with Bosch Platinums. Big mistake. They were replaced less than two weeks later with Delcos after throwing a random misfire code and having horrible idle problems.

thanx i think ill spend the $30 and put the delcos back in i never had a problem with the originals, car seems to run good now, engine light is still on and when i slow down the rpms jump a little from 1 to 1500 maybe the iac is faulty?

I doubt the IAC is the culprit, replace the plugs first.

Also, you have a vaccum line connected you your FPR right?

went today back up to autozone ,got the scan done and it said somethin about "idle rpm's" not cylinder misfire anymore ,it was the manager so he wouldnt clear the code for me and taking both battery cables off isnt clearing it either how do i check to see if its the iac?

It seems like your spark plug problem is now resolved. Now I would have a closer look at the IAC and throttle body. Should they appear dirty (I am sure they probably are), I would invest in a can of gunk intake medic and clean those parts up (under $10).
