ok im not sure if this is the right place to post this but i have a serious sludge problem wit my car and im just curious if anyone thinks i should drop the oil pan and clean it out. the car has been sitting for a while and i ran some seafoam through it and that kinda helped along wit changing the oil but i can still see alot of sludge inside the engine. to be honest i never had this kind of problem b4 so i dunno what would be my best options. of course i probly get flammed for something but oh well i still love this place, lol
there's a product thats made by the same people who make restore 4, except you put it in before your oil change and it basically cuts the sludge. it should be right next to the restore in the parts store, if not ask somebody there... i cant remember the name right now... next time, try the maintenance forum...

i have used seafoam and also used atf, i figured that would help but alot of the sludge didnt come out when i got a oil change so i dunno
seafoam, if im not mistaken, is a topside (intake and head) cleaner, which is why it goes in your brake booster line and gas tank. the stuff im talking about you pour right in your engine oil, et the car run for 5 minutes, shut it off and drain. atf? as in auto tranny fluid? thats bad news for your engine... its not made for combustion...

Seafoam can go in the oil as well...
yes i know atf is aoutomatic transmision fluid but its also can be used to brake sludge up in the oil. i know a many shops that have done this. but i guess im just gonna drop the pan and clean things up because its driving me crazy knowing all that crap is still there after two oil changes
Yeah ATF is an old school cleaning agent that a lot of old gear heads I know use to clean carbs out... just a few drops of it...
What you want is at autozone..... It's right by Seafoam you add it in after the old oil is left out and new oil is put in, you run it for like 5 minutes and it cleans out the inside of your engine....
it comes in like a 2 quart can.... I sawit there the other day

Really I would drop the oil pan and clean off the oil pump pickup also. I wouldn't risk it.
thanks for the info guys. it seems on my way home today my car stalls out while im driving and i get a cell. so i pull over and check things and go to start the car up again and proceed to drive home safely, well the car stalls on me three more times b4 i get home so i have my cousin take me to get more stuff for a oil change so i change the oil and attempted to drive to advanced aouto parts as its right oround the corner from me, well they scan my car and it says .... camshaft position sensor A-bank1 circuit malfuntion...after they scanned the car i could barely make it home without having to restart it 50 million times. so as it rest now my car is stuck in the driveway and now i just need to find a new camshaft position sensor....i dont even know where on the engine it is
oh and sunfires...eh tom) i die drop the oil pan and cleaned out all the sludge. there mustve been about an inch and a half of sludge in it
