radiator placement?? does it matter?
Wednesday, December 13, 2006 7:03 AM
well, this started from my other thread, but im wondering if it will hurt anything if i lean the top of the radiator back a bit to compensate for my headlight conversion?? not like a 45 degree angle, but maybe like a 65-70 degree angle.

will it hurt anything? will it still cool correctly? the car is barely driven, but still needs to function correctly. any ideas??

I don't think it would bother it that much really. just make sure none of the lines/hoses are kinked.

look at the Baja-style trucks. some of their radiators are at a 45 degree angle, and they run out in the desert for hours.

You aren't drastically changing the height of the inlet/outlet of the radiator. I've relocated one on an old omni once before, not saying its the exact same design but you've only got to worry about hose length change(kinks) and airflow over the radiator itself. Think of it this way, if a small angle mattered that much they'd warn you about driving down steep inclines and oveheating

thats a good point. never thought of that, lol...hoses will all be realigned/cut so there are no kinks, etc.
airflow i dont think will change too much as it will still have the whole face open to the front. i was just worried about fluid laying back in it, but again, like u said, same priciple as an incline.

thanks guys!!
