The other day I went over a huge pothole doing about 50 mph. When I got home the tire that I hit was losing air, so I took it off to put on the spare - but when I did that, I found a large chunk of metal missing on the inside of the rim. Turns out that's where the air was leaking out. So now I need a new rim.
The replacement rim I'm looking for is a stock alloy 2001 Sunfire 3-spoke. I looked around and found it for sale on a few sites, but I'm not sure how to go about replacing the tire. Do I take the old tire and the new wheel to a mechanic and pay to have them put together, or do I buy a new tire and a new wheel at the same time, or what? How should I handle this?
Also, if you guys could tell me where to get good deals on stock rims, I'd appreciate it. Thanks for reading. -sb
call local junk yards...then take the wheel and the tire you already have to a local tire shop they will just charge you balance and mounting on it which shouldnt be but a few dollars.
I got the rim replaced today - found it virtually spotless at a local junkyard selling for 1/3 the cost of a new one, complete with tire installation. Wiezer, thanks a lot man, you saved me a ton of cash.

Matt, thanks for the heads-up. The guy who installed the tire checked it out and apparently it's still good.
Thanks again guys, you're awesome.
