I think it would probably be cheaper/easier to get an aftermarket system installed.

Yeah, had an aftermarket system on my '96 2.2 5spd for quite a while now. Had to figure out the throttle linkage and make something to work it (NOT difficult!). Everything got wired up OK, but don't have engine speed cutoff. All the snooping I did turned up no definite wire for the tach reading. No prob, though, the brake cutoff works. I have no switch on the clutch for that to turn it off, but then again, a quick tap on the brake pedal does the trick (adjusted the switch to be VERY touchy). Let me know via eMail if you need pictures of the installation.

My aftermarket came with a LOT of instructions, but once I got the jist of them (ie, narrowed down the 'group' for my car), it was simple. Wiring is just clipping on wiretap/piggyback clips to existing wires to get an electrical signal, or power. The main unit had dip switches to 'program' it so it knows what it will be controlling. They don't go by actual speed, they only strive to maintain a signal rate from the vehicle speed sensor. They get their 'power' by tapping into the vacuum system. My kit came with all possible necessary hardware. Take your time; exposed wires go in plastic conduit, use electircal tape to protect connection points, tuck wires with existing lines with zip-ties if possible, etc. My registry has some pics, but they aren't very specific.

The other "I want cruise" thread

Use OEM it looks nicer and is no more difficult then aftermarket stuff....
