k well i have a 2001 cavalier z24 and just today i was exiting my car and now when i open the door the radio doesnt shut off. what do i do?

Possibly a bad door switch? Does your dome light stay on? You can always hit the power button on the deck till you figure it out.

stock, my lights go off and come on like normal

Could be a bad door switch, also i think those years use the BCM to control the radio from turning on and off. This is how you are able to turn the ingition off and still have the radio play. I would look into the door switch first as it's more common for it to have issues sticking or had a bad connection from water or rust. I would also check the wiring at the switch.

if that was the case, wouldn't the dome light not shut off as well? He stated that the dome light does turn off. Unless they are run on seperate circuits from each other.

Any luck so far with this? I would suspect the door switch (though by your description doesn't sound bad...) is cheap to replace. Just do that and see where you are at.
