Stupid Flashing Cell and misfires

Here's the deal, I have an 05 sunfire (I know it's still under warranty, but the dealers didn't found anything yet), since the beginning of the 06 drag season, I noticed that I had a problem..... Last year I did 15.13 with a 60' that could have been better, but this year I wasn't even able to touch 15's.... So there's a problem with the car cause it's not the driver!!

So... on with the trouble... Each time that I beat the crap out of the car (shifting at 6499) when I shift the 4th (release clutch and put the pedal to the floor) I got a flashing cel, it last for a good 15 sec and then shut off (of course I don't touch the gas pedal once it start flashing...) Yeaterday it did the same, but the cel stayed on after flashing, so I got to the dealer and asked them to check the code.... Still a damn P0300.... I tried the srt4 plugs gapped closer than the original ones and still the flashing cell, the icm is brand new, and the coil "plate" got swapped for another one to see if it was the problem.... I tried it again on the 1/4 mile and guess what.... could only beat Accents.... great!!! I read about the alternator thread, but didn't saw any news on this one... I also heard about a guy having a ground hooked up to one of the icm bolts But there's no recall or anything on ecotecs about that one!!! I have an autometer fuel pressure gauge hooked up (not yet, I tested it) and the pressure was normal at that time... Kind of lost and pissed.. cause I lost a complete season because of that, better stay home than doing @!#$ty times... I noticed that the srt4 plug gapped closer make the car run a little smooter but that's about all it does!!! One dealer said : Maybe it's your mods.... I have the same things as last year except for the motor mounts ans customcargrills crank pulley!!

Thanks for any help!!!

Does the car run really rough when this happens? for me it felt like i shifted into 5th gear at 20 mph and i lost all power.

1st remedy, take off the IDI cover, look for moisture. Also look for arching under the cover, on the black part. Next remedy, take the idi cover off another eco, with the coil pack, swap just the coil packs, if that doesnt work, swap your coil pack with the other eco idi cover and see if that helps, and vice versa for the other idi cover and your coil. My problem was that the IDI, the black piece, was bad not the coil pack that goes on it. Its worth a shot.

Gonna recheck that out. The car seem to run normally, I can't tell it have a problem on normal driving, but on the 1/4 there's definetly something wrong!!

yea, that sounds like it's somewhere in your secondary igniton. any other codes or freezeframe data you can check out? haven't really played with an eco before so i would go with what vincent was saying since he seems to have been in a similar situation. definitely sounds logical. good luck.
