Steering question....

Hey guys, 1998 Sunfire GT 2 door (2.4L)

Been having this steering issue for months and months....posted before but no definitive answer. Here are the symptoms (which have been getting worse):

1) Steering wheel feels "loose"
2) Car drifts while driving (mostly drifts to the left)
3) Loud "clunking" noise on passenger front side wheel when going over bumps or sometimes turning left)

Had my mechanic look at it, and he doesnt see any problems with the parts. He suggested it maybe an alignment or balancing issue, he didnt have a machine to do that. Could that be the issue? The only other thing i noticed when i was checking my brake pad levels, was that the passenger side tie rod looked a little worn, wasnt loose, just looked a bit worn....suggestions please

Thanks,
Ken

sounds like you need an alignment, ide try that first before anything else.

an alignment is only like 50 bucks.

hope that helps.

Many places will do an alignment check cheap (like <$20 and free if you do the full), and the full alignment for $60 to $70.
