So My car 01 Z24 is making a rattling type sound metal on metal kind of high pitch, I heard it first in traffic the other day pretty loud then it went away and I here it at start up sometimes now I would bet money that its my timing chain tensioner....just turned 180,000 so whats price here in US dollars ? and how fast do I have to take action on this? Oh yeah if timing goes I dont know are these bad boys non interferance motors so I would be somewhat safe if timing went while driving?

Its all about the pain...The Jewelry and Ink are just souvinirs

If youre timing chain tensionor is wornout, I would recommend getting it fixed ASAP, Cause if it does break, You could cause alot of damage to youre engine, I thinkits pricey to get the timing chain done on Z24, Parts is usually not to bad, Its the labor for doingthe job.

Blue you said it's an 01 so you probably have the 2.4 engine, if you do that is i believe an interference design engine which means if the timing goes on it the pistons and valves will smash into one another and you will most likely blow the engine. if you have the 2.2 ohv which i think was still around in 01 i think that is a non inteference design engine. Don't quote me on this because i could be wrong.
