Ok, this is the problem when I start my car it will turn over and wont start unless I hold the gas down alittle then it starts and the idle kind of stumbles around then it settles down. It doesn't do this all the time but its quite often, sometimes it starts right up runs for a second then dies. Then other times it starts right away with no problem. It always starts though and runs fine after it starts.
Any Ideas??
Its an '00 Z24.
first off find out what the fuel pressure is supposed to be for your car
check your fuel pressure with the car off.
then check it with the KOEO.
compare them to what they're supposed to be, sounds like maybe a fuel pump or filter. i'm leaning more towards filter right now. whens the last time you changed it?
I thought the same thing changed the filter a months ago, same thing, a few weeks after that the fuel pump went out, changed that and still does the same thing.
I did some searching on hear and found that some other people had similar problems and it was the IAC or another sensor on the throttle body, can't remember the name of it now though, but i just thought I would see if anyone has had this happen to them so I could just change something myself with out going to a shop.
thanks.
Hey girlfriends car(1997 Sunfire 2.2L) is doing alot of the same things and you say you changed a sensor? If you can tell me what it was exactly that would be great.
Thanks,
Ryan
i am still trying to figure it out. Haven't changed anything yet.
I was hoping for more answers on here.
Same issue here as well... Taking it in today to have it looked at..

pull your spark plugs and take a look at them. if you have a service manual, like haynes, the back cover will tell u what they should look like. my friends jeep did the same thing, i told him to replace the spark plugs, and shes all better now.
Ill make a sig someday
Shop tells us it's the anti theft kicking in randomly.. We have to take it to the chevy dealer tomorrow..

Let me know what happens.
I have changed my spark plugs 3 times already.
two things it can be.
make sure the line running from your fuel rail is connected. if it isnt connected your fuel pressure regulator will have bad reading all around. it is a skinny plastic black tubing. on most 2.2s Ive seen ppl have atempted to install and intake and put it on incorrectly and break the line leaving it hanging which then gives them this same problem. If that is correct then check your fuel lines.
brought it to the shop today and found out the my fuel pressure regulator is bad and thats whats causing the hard starts.
Thanks for the help.

Does anyone know if there is anyway to test the fuel pressure regulator?
No. i hae a feling that the fuel pressure regulator is going or shot but i just wondering if there is any way to test it without bringing it to a shop.
