I've had this problem for some time on my 2000 cav. When I turn the Steering Wheel left or right , even say 15 degrees I hear this "whirring" noise as the steering wheel is being turned. It isn't the pump, but sounds more like it's coming from the steering shaft?

I had the same problem years ago and it was under warrenty and i remember the GM dealer fixing the problem. I can't find the invoice of the repair, so I wonder if anyone knows what will fix this problem?

Mine's done that as long as I've had the car (3 years). Never knew it was a problem, one person told me to check my power steering fluid but it was fine. *shrug*

I thought it it had something to do with greasing the steering shaft, but I can't exactly remember
