could someone tell me how to replace the fuel filter on a 01 ohv cavalier? and where the filter is located. i am trying to get my fuel economy up as much as possible and i don't think the fuel filter has been changed in about 2 years or so. (i already have taken care of tires, tire pressure, and the air filter)can you guys think of anything else i can do for economy. i have heard of something called seafoam. what is it and what does it do?

i have a manual transmission and i am only getting 21 mpg city. and thats not with pedal to the metal driving either

the help is appreciated

thanx guys

Seafoam is a fuel system cleaner. It will clean the injectors, and if used in a vacumn hose will clean the piston tops, valve faces and combustion chamber in the head. If you don't have one, i'd reccomend getting a haynes or chilton's manual at Autozone or Advance..etc. Lots of info there on your car.

Fuel filter is behind the fuel tank but before the spare tire "hump" under the car. Make sure to take the cap off the fuel tank, then pull the fuel pump relay out (in the fuel block under the hood). Then try and start the car (it shouldnt start at all). Then replace the filter. Then put the fuel pump relay back in, put the cap back on the fuel tank, then turn her on. check for leaks and you're ready to go. It is explained about the same way in the chiltons

I would if I could find one. I can find nothing that covers the 05 cav. I asked on here once and nobody else helped...

you really don't need one for the 05 cavy specifically. the haynes i bought is for the 95-02, but it covers all five engines (2.2, 2200, 2.3, 2.4, and ecotec). other than the engines, the only other differences between the years is just cosmetic stuff...

Humm in your first post you listed it as a 01 cavy?? I got a Haynes and the FSM's for my '03, the Haynes covers several years and is pretty usefull. The clips that hold the filter tubing are usually plastic, be carefull with those as if you break them it can be expensive.
