Hey everyone my 2000 cavalier ohv 2200 is my daily driver and its been overheating badly Ive changed my water pump, thermostat, and switched out the dex junk for 70/30 prestone and it still does it is there any thing left I can look at or does anyone know the fix??? thx
there is only three things left
air in the system
restriction in the radiator
blown head gasket
how do i get air outta it?
also i noticed that my overflow tube from my coolant tank shoots steam out of it constantly if that helps anyone diagnose the problem
ok urs is easy to bleed, let it sit and warm up (let it idle like 30-45 minutes) then that metal pipe running in front of your cylinder head (it's black) there is a tiny bolt in the middle of it, after it gets nice n hot, loosen that bolt. DO NOT REMOVE IT, just loosen it up till u hear hissin, then wen water comes out, tighten it
Make sure you didnt put your thermostat in backwards.
My boyfriend did that on mine.....and it ended up doing the same thing you listed.
Finally, after I nagged him about it enough (because I had a feeling that this was the cause) he took it apart and there it was!!! ASSBACKWARDS!
