car trouble?

Just wanted to pass this by my fellow .org members...

I have a 1996 Sunfire 2.2L and I drove it on errands today... it started up fine and ran fine until I got to my first stop. I was rolling into the parking lot and the engine started to sputter and the car shook a little. As I went to park the engine sputtered more and it felt as if it was going to stall. I cut it off and went inside to get my stuff taken care of. When I came out I was afraid to start the car (alot of $$ has went into this lately, including a new engine).

When I tried to start the car it turned over but did not start. I did it again with the same result, no start. I was like crap, this happened when my old motor blew but I tried one more time.... this time I gave it a little gas (its a 5spd) and it started up. I revved it a little until the shuttering stopped than left on my way. I went straight home with no problems and it did not do the stalling or sputtering when I parked at my apartment. Does anyone know what is wrong here... it is definately something that should be looked at but I just moved and $$ is tight right now. Could it be the fuel injectors since the engien was trying to cut out/sputtering and it only started when I gave her gas?

I ran the car tonight and it started right up... I still might pass it by someone tomorrow

did it primarily at low revs right? if so it could be IAC

Have you replaced your fuel filter lately? Also might be the IAC valve.

Yes, I have had the fuel filter replaced in the past.

The sputtering and stalling only happened at low RPM's... it felt like the car wasn't getting fuel so it was trying to cut itself off. But it worked fine at higher speeds so it must be a problem at ldle obviously?
