Well the car was making a loud buzzing/growling sound above 2800 rpm. It turned out to be loose studs on the exhaust manifold and alternator bracket, they were all loose some were dangerously close to coming out.

I think my brothers having the same problem on his 99 sunfire LD9, his is happening at 1200 rpm and it only happens when the car is warmed up? are those the same symptoms?
I'm getting a similar sound on my 96 2.2 Sunfire. I notice it happens from about 1300 to 3000 rpm. I hear that can be caused by those loose studs or possibly from the exhaust manifold cracking. Either way, I should give those studs a check to see if they've come loose.
