Power lock problems
Saturday, July 15, 2006 8:28 AM
The power locks on my gf's car no longer works. It's a 98 cavalier, 4 door. I want to try to fix it for her. I'm thinking it's a blown fuse? You hit the unlock button, and there's no sound at all. Hit the unlock button on the FOB, the lights flash, but there's no sound of the locks unlocking. So where is the fuse for it? Is it by the drivers door? If the fuse is ok, what else could it be? Any help at all would be appreciated.

if the fuse isnt blown there is a relay on the pass. side behind the carpet in the foot area. do you hear it clicking when you lock and unlock the doors? that may be your problem. my 98 sunfire had the same problem on the right door when i got it and i thought the lock solinoind(sp) was junk turned out the relay was worn out. just went to the junkyard and got a different one

Well, the fuses are fine. I'm going to check out that relay. Would that cause all the doors not to unlock or lock? I do hear the lclick sound when I push the power lock button. Just nothing happens at all.
