ok so i am werking on this car for a kid, a 98 2.2 manual, comes to me with a random clicking or snapping sound coming from drivers side. when it makes the sound the whole car jerks and seems to go into neutral, it is the same in all gears, i was thinking axels? but they seem fine, possably something in the differential? or maybe clutch... anyone ever have this??

Sounds like what just happened to my brother's 98 Z24 just a few days ago. Such a shame, for him he'll almost certainly end up having to spend hundreds of dollars for a used Z24 tranny, unless someone here knows of a cheaper solution?

ive narrowed it down to the differential also. i jaked the car up and the wheels will go , and in all gears it makes that sound still. the spedo guage goes too, i was siting still and it read 90mph! haha luckily i got a tranny for my sunfire at harry's u pullit in hazleton PA for 30 bucks!! so ima swap em out n see how it goes. thanks for the input guys!! now i gotta figure out y my clutch is so much stiffer than anyone elses.....
