Hey All
how do you tell if your struts are starting to go? i was driving down a bit of a bumpy road the other day and noticed a lot of squeaking coming from the back could it be the struts?
Well normally if the rear suspension is noisy its the mounts,a good way to check if ur struts are shot or just worn is to push down on the rear end u should not have more than a bounce.Being I do not know the age or mileage of ur car normally struts vary on life.Keep n mind when if u decide to replace those u will need a alignment being it's a independent suspension if u decide to replace the mounts or the whole assembly.I know monroe makes a quick strut which includes the mounts, springs and strut all in one sold at advance auto.Sometimes u can simply lube with a aresol lube to resolve the squeek but,its not a resolution if the struts are worn.I hope this helps and if I am incorrect or something is left off please add or correct me on my post.
Well so far i have lubed things up and it seems to have gotten rid of the squeak for now, my car is a 2002 with about 45K KM on it (not sure what that is in miles sorry). can i do the alignment myself if i replace them? or should i get a mechanic to do it?
Thanks
its best for a alignment shop to take care that part, If youre going to replace the struts youre self make sure you get youre wheel alignment done as soon as possible, Youre tires will wear quick.
Good Luck,
