Lemme guess, your AC took a crap. A guy at the Chevy dealer intown told my neighbor who's had the compressor changed in his S-10 and Dually (only used on weekend to haul dragster) that a GM compressor will crap out after
about 9-11 years even if you park the car and don't drive it. His S-10 is a '95 and had AC done last year and the dually is a '96 and had it done this year, so 10 years is about right.
ANYWAY, just looking at the part numbers from Advance's website the 2.4 cars use a different compressor that the 2.2's. Don't know if you're looking for a junkyard special, but it looks like other GM cars with the 2.4 also use the same compressor according to
THIS
thanks mike. i am going to the junkyard. in a bout an hour

I wish Hugh Jones wasn't crushing everything. They used to have a boatload of cars down there, hell I used to go every weekend or so just to look around. I'm going to some junkyard just south of ATL Monday to grab a front 22mm swaybar with d-brackets and all for $35. Gas will probably cost me $10 tho. I haven't decided on what rear to order but I'm leaning toward the Progress 22mm. I don't feel like going to a u take it off place and have to drop a crossmember there in the junkyard so a short drive won't be too bad other than traffic.
man we barely got out of there with one.it came out of a grand am w/2.4L chase and i finished his car. now we just gotta do mine.

used compressors suck! just like the one that was in my car! the 2.4 is doomed as far as compressors go.. looks like it will have to be a reman or a new one(NOT FROM GM) hopefully I can find one with a decent set of seals

. i wonder how hard it would be to put the ecotec compressor in a 2.4, or if it is a V5 compressor. Seems like GM treated the ecotec guys right, so far.
