I did the front brakes this weekend and i noticed that when reinstalling the slider bolts, they were VERY hard to slide back through the rubber sleeve in the caliper. This is on the drivers side only. I checked the passenger side and they slide easily by hand.
Here's what i did:
Took out slider bolts, cleaned the bolts to remove any residue of grease or silicone slider lube from before. Took a clean rag on the end of a flat headed screwdriver and wiped out the rubber sleeve on the caliper.
Re-lubed the slider bolts, reinstalled into caliper. Still VERY hard to hand press in, had to use a hammer to tap it in.
I'm not sure why it's binding, but the top bolt and bottom bolt on just the drivers side caliper is doing this.
Any suggestions?
I was thinking maybe the rubber sleeve where the slider bolts slide through could somehow be swelled?
what do you think? How can i correct this?

Are the bolts smooth? They may be corroded and need to be replaced.
If they're smooth, then the caliper may need to be rebuilt or replaced.
If you needed a hammer to get them in, then you cannot use them as they are. They need to be able to slide freely for your brakes to work properly.
you need to pull out that rubber. These calipers tend to rust under the rubber. Pull out the rubber and take a round file and/or dremel sander and sand in the hole. Once you remove the rust, put the rubber back with grease and then regrease and put the slider bolts in.
The bolts will be smooth, thats not the problem.
Its an easy fix and should be done actually everytime you do a brake job.
I actually did what Vinay suggested, and it did improve the sliding motion alot. I actually ended up replacing the rubber sleeves as I had a set sitting in a shelf at home. I greased it all up and put it back together and it worked perfectly.
Thanks for the help.
