I have an intermittant cough coming from my 2.4. I did plugs 15,000 km ago when it was doing it.. now it is acting the same as before I did my plugs.. Its not repetitive, it comes and goes... hot or cold... It isn't bad enough to set off a code but you can hear the *pop* or misfire from the tail pipe (Pfft) Gas mileage is still about 25 Mpg city/// I havn't done fuel filter since 58,000 and never done wires.. I have 100,000 now and Gms service sheets say not to replace wires till 160.000???? Any info
I am not really sure how to describe the condition other than a cough or hiccup

There are no wires. There are little boot things, but they never seem to go bad.
Find someone who can scan the car, see what cylinder has the highest spark voltage.
Also, it's a good idea to fill out your registry a bit more completely.
Mine does this too. As far as i know the fuel filter has never been done. I have around 55K on it. Should i get that checked out? How much is it to replace? (for the shop to do it). I need a oil change, could jiffy lube do both? Thanks

Mine had a similar sputter not to long ago; i found a leak in my fuel pressure regulator. I changed it and the sputter is gone.
yea its at low rpm. Some times it even dies, the only thing that saves it some times is smashing the clutch to the floor. But that doesn't always work. I have learned to just live with it, doesn't happen very often.

IT did it for 2 months then went away for 6 then back for 1... gone for 3... now back.. >?>?
That housing that the coil packs are on was replaced twice under warranty for cracks.. 1 coil crackd on me once... just hairline.. I'll do the fuel filter and check the pressure reg as well
when I am killin money on that i'll get em to scan the thing too.. Damn shop time!!!!

Also... How much back pressure does the stock muffler provide.. With one of my old boats about 8 years ago I did a 2 3/4 exhaust no cat and a straight thru... I got some valve float goin on...
I wanted to change the muffler on my Z but wasn't sure if anyone has heard of it affecting the longevity of the motor. I have a rattle at 2100 to 2300 rpn right from inside the muffle.. bad baffle i guess. The car sat outside for a whole winter and froze at the dealer before I bought it. I figured I would replace the muffler anyways with a nice sounding one.. Magnaflow?? V-Force???
I'm only so knowlegable about the new cars... anything that is pre 1980.. and I got it covered.. for the most part.. all these @!#$ computers and sensors are getting me worried..

mine does it to but a just put on a new pump filter and regulator 5000 miles ago. igntion was completely down a year ago

Meant to mention it feels flat on acceleration, and when the car is out of gear and decelerating, the idle will fluctuate.
