Car will not Start. HELP!

OK, here is the scoop, around a year ago I was drving my car and i had the cruise set and out of no where the R's dropped and when I would push the gas down nothing would happen, it was just barely idleing then it slowly died. Then it would turn over just fine and everythng seemed ok it just wouldnt fire. Figured out that it wasn't getting any gas and took off the fuel filter and it was so plugged that I couldn't even blow through it. So i changed that and i ha been running great.

Then a few weeks ago I noticed that it was turning over a little bit more everytime I would start it, when it usually would just pop off after a split second, then i was driving it home and then the Rs dropped down to around 1000 from around 3000 then again when I would i push the gas down it kinda tried to rev but then it just died, and wouldn't start it turn over just fine but wouldn't start. Got towed home took off the fuel filter blew in it again and it seemd a little clogged but not as bad as the first time so I changed it and the car started right up and ran just fine again.

Then yesterday on my way to town the same thing happened again, got towed home again. Took the fuel filter off again and it didn't seem to have any restriction blowing in it but changed it anyway and the car won't start at all now, it turns over fine still but it just wont fire at all.

So now i am stuck. When I get in the car and turn the key on I can hear the fuel pump click on and run for a second but then I start it and nothing.

Whats the problem???????

check the fuel pressure, the bad fuel filter could have made the pump burn out. It's possible that it's running but not making enough pressure to fire the engine.

You can't outrun the radio.

Thats kind of what I was thinking too,

Right before it did it the second time I did change the spark plugs to Bosch Platinum plugs, the ones with the two points. Could that be causing it? Are those not good plugs for these motors??

ok, I don't have any way to check the fuel pressure but I took the fuel filter off and turned the key on to get the pump to run and where there should have been gas spraying out there was nothing, I even turned the motor over a couple times and no gas came out. So that makes me think that the fuel pump is not working.

The pump is in the gas tank right?

Anyone know how much they cost?

This link shows there seems to be a problem with the connectors on the Fuel Pump

You may be lucky, I would check these first as the pump/sender units are quite expensive, I think

Hope it helps, anyway

Yeah, it is in the gas tank, im sorry but it is your gas pump. I had to replace mine a 2 months ago, It was so damn time and money consuming. If you want it done cheap go to a junk yard and get the part it cost me like $90, and to put it in is like 200 bucks. Dont ask the men at what ever garage you choose to fine the part because the part and the price to put it in is like $500 and up. Dont run your car low a lot becase all the dirt from your tank will clog the pump and the filter, stay above like a quarter of a tank. Good luck man.
