my wifes 02 ls sport will sit there and crank and crank and nothing. then turn it off and on again and it will start. tonight she said it would sit there and crank and the check engine light flashed.

i want to replace the battery as it is the orginal one and i stored it for 3 winters and didnt take it out. and it has 36k miles on the stock fuel filter.

anything else i can check? or recommend?

If the check engine light is still on, You need to get that code scanned for the trouble code checked. Then work on what part is causing this issue.
