Turn signal light comes on for no reason???

2000 Sunfire 2.2

For about 4 months now when driving, with or without headlights on, the right turn signal indicator light on the instrument gages will occasionally come on but it has always been very dim and sometimes fades out. Since then it has gotten progressively worse happening more frequently and with brighter intensity. I noticed the driver's side rear blinker was out so I replaced the 194B blubs on each side in the rear. This didn't fix things at all. A week later the ol lady said when activating her Viper alarm that she noticed the pass. side front signal was very dim compared to the round running light in the front bumper. Yesterday I replaced both front 194B bulbs as well. The bulbs corrected the dim light issue, but the damn signal indicator lights up brighter than ever before now, almost at full intensity. Any idea WTF's going on with it? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

If you've replaced all the lights check for corrosion. If there is a bad connection somewhere, then the light will come on.

The connectors all appeared to be semi-clean. Could this have anything to do with the "Sunfire" lights in the truck lid?

Alright, so I put the multi meter to it a few min ago...BTW, the pass side turn signal is now very dim all the time, I checked all the wiring (which is in loom) and everything looks good.

See if you can make any sense of this...

Pass side:

Brn: 11.61 vDC / 10 mOhm

Blu: 7.24 vDC / 0 Ohm

Driver side:

Brn: 11.68 vDC / 0 Ohm

Blu: 344.7 mV DC / 35 mOhm

Now, I checked everything multiple times with the common lead on the neg. battery terminal. (good connection) The passenger side brown wire would sometimes read 0 Ohm. When it would read 0, the driver side blue wire would read 371 kOhm. When it would switch back to 10 mOhm again, the driver's side blue would go back to 35 mOhm.

Any ideas???

Well, the socket itself is totally dead now. I have traced all the wires (in loom) from one side to the other, checked all fuses and relays under the dash and hood, and retraced all the Viper alarm connections and it all looks good. Any ideas? I know the blower motors, window motors, and defrost wire under kick panel are known to be problematic...I'm hoping this is the case with the turn signal as well...

Bump, Simillar problem on my 2003 ecotec with 100k on it. All signals work, but from time to time, the right blinker goes quickly, as if a bulb is blown, but all work.
Thanks.

Anyone?

Sorry I didn't post back. Turns out the right (pass. side) running light was shot, not the one on the side...the lower one in the front valance. I was being retarded.

Cars Fever Guy:

I have a 03 Sunfire and my bulbs used to burn out every few months. I took it in after the 3rd time and there was a recall on it. May want to check with your dealer. Don't know how far it goes back or if it's just Sunfires.
