Thanks for the replies on my last post.
I'm also having some huge issues with my a/c compressor. Most of the time, there's an extremely loud jingling sound coming from the compressor. It jingles regardless of whether the a/c is on. Is this from the bearing or clutch assembly on the compressor? Is there a way to fix this without replacing the compressor? I've been told that this is a sign that the compressor will be dying soon, but does it have to be that way? Is there any sort of preventive step I can take? I tried searching the forum but couldn't find anything.
I think this is the ac clutch, my 96 2.2 Sunfire does the same except when I turn on the ac the sound goes away.
I was told by the Dealership that it just needs a simple Clutch Adjustment
I hr labour i believe
what happens is that the springs on the clutch get worn out.....you should replace it, but you can just spread the clutch apart from the pully and give it a little bit more space in between..
Bad compressor clutch bearing
Non Serivceable
Replace comrpessor
