IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM.
Monday, April 10, 2006 5:57 PM
It was a nice day out, until I went to work, when I got there I was about to pull the key out and when I did, my control panel was still lit up. A few minutes later I somehow managed to turn off the car, it wouldn't let me turn the key backwards all the way, I had to leave it like that yesterday, I didn't drain my battery luckily. What do you think the problem is? I'm sorry, I wish I could explain this better.

Does it come off easily, or do I have to take everything apart, is it necessary to remove the steering wheel?

Is your car a auto or stick? If it is auto it might be the lock cable that goes up to the column. Not sure how that works but i know it goes to the switch. but If you can't get it to the on position you will have to take the black covers off and after you do. Lay on your back looking at the bottom of the lock cylinder and you will see a round hole in the aluminium. With a silver or black round piece that is round sticking out somewhat.

You will have to some how drill that round piece. Cut it off, break it off. Maybe take and hit it with a punch and hammer might knock it in. Pull the switch out after that then take a pair of needle nose pliers and turn the metal piece in the column to the on position. Do the same with your new switch and slide it in.

Turn the switch off and pull on it to see if it locked in place. Then try to start it after plugging the plug back in. I believe it will then shut off and will have to do a pass-lock relearn. But only if you can't get to switch to turn would i do this.

ok well that's a no go on that one then. Why you think i said you had to drill it,grind it smash it. Basically knock the pin out or off somehow.

It isn't going to move in the off postion, you have to have it to the on. If you can get it there then you got to the ^^^^^.
