i had 2 codes on my scanner with these codes and it said: EVAP emission malfunction any idea what is causing that? i've had them before and just erased them...

i get that all the time. i have a reader so i just clear it. but any time i don't get a good seal from my gas cap, it will come on shortly afterwards. i need a new gas cap. i'll get around to it. i've had this code coming on for over a year...no problems.

someday i'll get that new cap....

try gas cap first (usually throws a 0442 instead), then check wires to purge valve, and if thats not it replace valve - do a search, theres a bunch on where to look, what to check, etc., however - don't quote this - i think im the first or one of the few who just needed a new valve - $30 from dealer - (wires were $60??)

if you must do emissions testing, they may not pass you if you simply clear the code in some areas. better to fix it and forget it instead of having check engine staring you in the face every 100 miles or so
