My friend is having a problem with idling which it stays at around 2500 rpm. Dont really know what it could be. Maybe fuel filter?Mass airflow sensor? vacuum hose? Just wondering if n e one has ir had the same problem and might know what this problem is?

Check manifold vacuum first off.

Sounds like a vacuum leak,.

After checking vacuum check the IAC valve. I had one go bad on me (on a non j-body GM) and mine idled at 2000.

Agreed, sounds like plenum gasket or major vacuum leak. Good luck.

Any update on this? My wife's 02 z24 (2.4) is idling at 2000. I tried looking for a vacuum leak, to no avail. Is it possible for a sensor to go bad w/o a CEL?

What do you think?

After i built my motor and put it in It had this problem, wanted to Idle at 2500, turns out it was the idle control pack, it hooks up on the back of the throttle body, it was disconnected.Dont know if its applicable, just thought id throw it out there.

After checking for vacuum leaks, try cleaning your IAC valve and your TPS. If these don't work it will be time to look at the electrical side. On my car it ended up being a blown comparator circuit inside the PCM. All electrical signals (ie; voltages) going to the PCM but the output voltage to the TPS was wrong.

Hope it's not a PCM problem.
