Brake problems
Tuesday, March 14, 2006 11:00 AM
About a month ago my abs was acting up it was kicking in at low speeds when it's not supposed to. I herd that it could be a bad wheel sensor. I have some friends at a saturn dealer so they put it on the obd 2 and all the sensors seemed fine. It was getting on my nurves so I just pulled the abs fuse. Problem solved till the other day. Now my brake light came on the one that comes on when your e-brake is on and it's not the switch because the drl's turn off when I pull the e-brake. So dose this mean that it is one of my rear wheel sensors that is bad. I am starting to get too many lights on the dash to ignore now!

I toped up the brake fluid and that didn't change anything.

yes the ABS preacivation is caused by a bad wheel speed sensor, tell your buddy to drive around the parking lot with the scanner, on LIVE DATA and watch each wheel speed sensor whole he gets the preactivation, tell him to keep tryng till he gets it.

not sure bout the brae light, mine is on too, i think i gotta change my ABS module, cuz it came on when i bottomed out once, i think it jarred my ABS module

Well I pluged my abs fue back in and all the lights went out. The I pulled the fuse again and only the abs light came on again. So the other brake light is comming on because of the abs which leads me to beleve it's a wheel speed sensor. How do I find out which one is bad though.

here's a way to check it if it will cut out all the time, do this one tire at a time

tools needed:
tools to remove tire
volt meter capable of low voltage readings

1. take off wheel where u want to check sensor
2.unplug the WSS (wheel speed sensor)
3. put begative lead from volt meter to one pin on WSS, and the other lead on the other pin
4. put volt meter to LOWEST voltage reading setting
5. spin drum/rotor

if you get voltage, the sensor is good, no voltage, bad sensor
