I'm driving down to Florida soon for spring break, 1100 miles each way....need to know if I should have any maintnance done on my car? it doesn't need an oil change for 2500 more miles. My dad was talking about a front end check....what does that entail do I need it done? how much will it cost?
my car hasn't had any problems yet...1998 cavalier
thanks

most stuff u can do yourself, just jack up the front, check for loose componenets, (i.e. tie rods, wheels bearings) check brakes, make sure they're up to par, make sure u have sufficient flwo through your rad if u plan on long duration non stop driving. just make sure there's no leaves or anything hindering air flow, check ALL tire pressures, reccomened 35psi for trips (unless ur tires car take high, i.e. 44psi...) other than that just make sure everythignis safe, chekc all fluids
ok so just check those basic things? then im not gonna bother paying for that

For trips i'd check this stuff.
1. tire pressure - usually 32psi, 2. engine oil, 3. trans fluid, 4. engine coolant level, 5. widshield washer fluid fill up, 6. lights/blinkers/hazard flashers, 7. battery water level if it's not zero maint, 8. can of fix a flat in trunk with flashlight, extra quart oil, extra quart trans fluid, towel or paper towels, basic tools - screwdriver..etc.
I've driven back & forth from Atlanta to Houston many many times (about 1000 miles) and that list has saved my butt several times. Good luck & be safe.
