fuel filter?

Hey, I took my car into the dealership today to get a new fuel filter. The problem is they couldnt get it off, the quick realse is rusted up, and wont come off. They said they can cut the filter at end, (the long nipple), and dig it out of the metal line. They said there is a chance of the metal line breaking, if that happened, it would cost me in the mid $700 dollar range, because thats the line that goes to the fuel pump, and its all one unit they told me, so i ended up not getting it done, what do you think i shoud do, its a 98 z24.

Cut it out of there and put in a generic in line fuel filter, those quick releases suck ass.

hmmmmm, I had no problem with my quick releases

and for the feul pump side, all it is is a flare nut fitting. if it breaks(wich if you do it right it shouldn't even if its rusted) all you gotta do is get another piece of pipe, some fittings, and make you a flare end on the feul line.

there is no way on gods green earth that should cost you 700beans

that's a new one. trying to get you to buy a pump if the line breaks. aw man i have to remember that one. most parts stores are fully aware of this problem and have a variety of fuel line and fittings. i had to get a repair kit for mine as well, basically a flexible fuel line with a barbed adapter that joins the old line and new line (after heating the lines in hot water) and then has a quick connect fitting for the oem filter.

if it was the other end then get a tubing cutter and a flare kit and toss in a new fitting. either way it would be no more than a $20 fix.
