Crank pulley

Well im in the process of replacing the timing chain on my 98 2.4

heres the problem, ive got it all about torn down except the crank pulley, i know how it comes off but i dont have a big enough wrench, does anyone know what size it is? This way i dont have to go buy 10 big (expensive) wrenches to get the right one. I have the socket to do it, but i cant get it into the darn pulley. It was named sport compact for a reason.

any one know?

ps, i can move the timing chain 2 inches in between the cams hehehehe not good, messed it up over revving, also broke the top guide.

I also thought about doing cams while its down, anyone have any good street/strip cams, i dont care if the idle is lobey, but i just want it to be able to idle and run good. Been building engines for years, i just never built a 4 cyl before.

here try this link. It seems to have some pretty in depth instructions.

just look under the installing an underdrive pulley, it will give you all the directions (pics too) on how to remove the pulley

Dont you need the special tool for this. I have removed several crank pulleys and used a gear puller everytime. It it a thing with three screws that screw into the crank pulley. Then you align the center part with the crank pulley and use a wrench on the tool and it comes on fairly easy.

Thanks for the info, i got it all torn down, waiting on the new chain and a new guide. The old chain is still in there, whats the key to relieving the tensioner?
